Wat Sri Thanu is a small Buddhist temple in Koh Phangan.

Though it may be smaller in size, it’s certainly attractive and features numerous intricate details.

Located in Sri Thanu beach, the temple can easily be accessed by a short stroll. It is well maintained and in great condition, so visitors can come to admire the traditional Thai temple design featuring white walls and a combination of red and gold in its architecture. The many windows, as well as the roof, feature intricate carvings painted in vivid colours.

The main temple building of Wat Sri Thanu is surrounded by several durian trees. You’ll also find a large five-headed serpent on each side of the stairs as you enter the temple grounds. Entrance is free of charge, but visitors are required to dress modestly and remove shoes before entering.

After visiting the temple, explore the many other attractions in Sri Thanu. It’s home to great beaches, such as Laem Srithanu beach in the south, and Srithanu Bay. These areas are generally peaceful throughout the year. Laem Son Lake is also worth visiting and is the biggest freshwater lake on Koh Phangan. Shaded pine trees and rope swings provide hours of relaxation and great photo opportunities.

Check out the food markets at Baan Srithanu, a popular stopover after visiting Wat Srithanu. The vibrant markets are filled with authentic local delicacies and ingredients. Srithanu village is also recommended for a good selection of bars and restaurants.
