Chaweng Beach

Chaweng Beach is where all the action is on Koh Samui. It is found on the island’s north-eastern coast and is the longest beach area of the island.

It is also the biggest and busiest resort town, and it is where most of the accommodation of the island is concentrated. You’ll also find restaurants, shops, and nightlife here.

A highlight of this destination is the sheer variety of nightlife. There are sunset bars as well as elegant cocktail bars serving up a wide range of drinks, so you are sure to find it packed with young travellers. Green Mango Strip is famous here; it’s where Koh Samui’s trendiest, hippest bars are located.

If you want to stay in a central part of Koh Samui, base yourself in one of the elegant accommodation options on Chaweng Beach. Most of these hotels and resorts are beachfront, giving travellers the best access not just to the beautiful beach that the island is known for; but also to prime establishments around town. Some of the biggest names in luxury accommodations can be found here.

The beach features powdery soft white sand. Each end of the beach has rocky areas, but its centre makes for terrific snorkelling and swimming. It may not be the most secluded beach in Samui, but this beach is well-loved by travellers who want to be a few steps away from all the action. The best activities here can be enjoyed right on the beach, including massages, dining, and drinking.

Although the beach is the main highlight, there are also numerous attractions to explore. Stop by Wat Khao Hua Jook; a magnificent Buddhist temple situated atop the northern end of the beach. Several Thai cooking workshops can also be found nearby.
