Haad Salad Beach is a lovely beach in Koh Phangan’s north-west. The best time to swim here is during the high tide, and just 150 meters from the shore is a terrific dive site suitable for snorkelling as well.
This beach is distinct for its sparkling emerald waters, while lush jungles cover the mountains on each side.
Haad Salad Beach, Accommodation, Resorts & Hotels Map, Koh Phangan
Also known as Salad Beach, the waters are perfect for swimming all year round as they maintain a consistently warm yet refreshing temperature. But make sure you visit from November to May, because the rest of the year is prone to southwest monsoon rains.
There is a small market selling local produce and Thai food, as well as small convenience shops, ATMs, money exchange, a clinic, motorbike rentals, an internet cafe, and tour services in town.
Haad Salad, whose name means “pirate beach”, was named because of its sheltered cove, shallow bay, and coral reefs that were not accessible to the Thai navy. The result is a place that was ideal for smugglers to stay away from prying eyes. However, there’s no need to worry because it is now a popular beach destination in Koh Phangan and no longer used by pirates.
It will take around 20 minutes either by motorbike or taxi to reach the main port town in Thong Sala from Salad Beach. This is a great destination to base yourself while exploring the numerous nearby attractions of the island, including Laem Som Lake, Wangsai Waterfalls, Chaloklum Village, and the Chinese Temple.
It’s also a convenient location for travellers who wish to join in the festivities around the Full Moon Party.
