The Wang Sao Thong Waterfall is an excellent addition to your itinerary when visiting Koh Samui. Although modest in size compared to the rest of the island’s waterfalls, it’s the perfect place to unwind and relax with the cool jungle breeze.
The shallow pools are inviting, and the cold waters make for a refreshing change from the hot temperatures on the island.

Getting to the falls is relatively easy; you will only be required to hike a short 1 kilometre which makes it suitable for all ages and fitness levels. As you trek, you will pass through dense, verdant jungles that are home to many of Thailand’s most beautiful flora and fauna. Keep in mind that since there are no shops at the falls, you should pack food and drinks.
There are two levels in the falls; both of which have signs that you can easily find around. The best area to swim in is the smallest pool at the waterfall base. As you sit in this area, enjoy the tranquillity that it offers as you are surrounded by nature. The only sounds you will hear are the rustling of the leaves and the songs of birds and insects.
There are many great photo opportunities at Wang Sao Thong Waterfall, so prepare your camera before you make it here.
When you go on the trek, it is always advisable to have safety as your main priority. Wear the right shoes because some rocks may be slippery. Most importantly, before you jump into any of the pools, check how deep the water is first.
