Maenam Pier is found on the northern part of Samui. It’s also conveniently located right next to a beautiful but underrated beach, which is worth discovering. The pier has a small dock, although it’s good enough to do the job with efficient boat transfers.
There are ferries that depart every day taking travellers to and from the Surat Thani mainland, Koh Tao, as well as Koh Phangan.
There are a handful of great high-speed catamarans that also service the pier, which takes travellers to the nearby beaches. Speed boats that take you on snorkelling trips also usually depart from this pier.
It’s always advisable to book trips ahead of time, especially during high season, to ensure you get a seat on one of the boats. The schedules are hectic around the time of the full moon party, so be sure to reserve in advance.
Finding the pier is pretty straightforward; just tell the taxi driver to take you to Maenam Village. From here, you’ll see some traffic lights followed by a police booth, then the entrance to the marina.
While here, you may as well explore the village which has a laid-back, traditional Thai charm to it. There are restaurants with a view just off the beach road, which have a lovely ambience.
The Maenam Pier is in close proximity to the picturesque rural areas of Samui, where visitors can see a glimpse of traditional Thai lifestyles. This makes it an excellent place to see something authentic and unique during your travels. As a bonus, the beaches nearby are perfect for swimming, with flat and calm conditions.
